Lord, Now That You’ve Made Me Listen, I Finally Understand–Psalm 40:6

Today’s Scripture Reading: Psalms 39-41; Psalms 53, 55, 58

Today’s Devotion: I Said to Myself

Heavenly Father, these words penned by David give me so much hope:

You take no delight in sacrifices or offerings. Now that you have made me listen, I finally understand—you don’t require burnt offerings or sin offerings. Then I said, “Look, I have come. As is written about me in the Scriptures: I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your instructions are written on my heart.”  —Psalm 40:6-8

Amazing!  I’m not the only one who has to be made to listen.  I’m not the only one who gets confused about what pleases You.  I’m not the only one who would rather throw money at a need than take the time to ask You what You want me to do…and wait for instructions.

Jesus, if I’m not listening…MAKE ME LISTEN.

I want to hear You so I can be obedient to You!

Thank You for Your Word!

Amen and Amen!
