Lord, Help Us Succeed in Everything We Do–Genesis 39:2

Today’s Scripture Reading: Genesis 37:1-38:30;                                                              1 Chronicles 2:3-6,8; Genesis 39:1-23

Today’s Devotion:  When Our  Dreams Are Shattered

Heavenly Father, is it wrong to ask You to help us succeed in everything we do?

Is succeeding in everything possible?

In Genesis 39:2, Your Word tells us that You were with Joseph so he succeeded in everything he did.  Joseph had been sold into slavery by his brothers and was a servant in the house of Potiphar; that doesn’t sound like succeeding.

In Genesis 39:23, again Your Word tells us that You were with Joseph and caused everything he did to succeed.  Joseph had just been falsely accused of trying to rape Potiphar’s wife and was in prison; that sure doesn’t sound like succeeding to me.

Lord, I guess before we can ask You to help us succeed we have to ask You to teach us what it means to succeed in Your eyes. Lord, as we study the rest of Joseph’s life, teach us how to succeed Your way.  Help us to succeed in everything we do.

Lord, show us Your faithful love, the love that You showed Joseph in his darkest times.  Heavenly Father, give us the desire to succeed in ways that are pleasing to You.

In Jesus’ Name.  Amen and Amen~

    Great post …. thought provoking.

From’s Joseph’s perspective success may not have included being sold, put in jail, tempted by Potiphar’s wife, etc but from God’s perspective Joseph’s successful character development lead him to positively impacting so many lives in his day. Talk about an Andy Andrews “Butterfly Effect”! http://www.andyandrews.com/video/butterfly-effect/

As ususal God’s perspective is so much more mammoth than our own.

A reminder that success is not measured by circumstances; it is measured by our faithfulness to God.
